This past week my parents visited, it was filled with so many adventures, laughs, and of course tearful goodbyes. This was the longest I had ever gone without seeing my parents before, in Miami they used to come almost every weekend it seemed, but now living in Paris the distance is just a bit too far...
Nevertheless, the trip was much needed for all of us I think. I planned a fully packed week for them, itinerary and all because well, I am my father's daughter! We explored the catacombs, played pétanque in the Jardin de Luxembourg, shopped the Champs-Élysées, and of course ate at some of the most delicious Parisian restaurants.
Of course one of the highlights of the trip was a gift I gave my parents for Christmas - a motorcycle sidecar tour around Paris. They absolutely loved it and were able to see all of Paris as well as some local secrets in just three hours. When I picked them up they were beaming and couldn't stop telling me about all the hidden gems they discovered. It was all any of us could talk about during our lunch at Ladurée.
The second must mention highlight was when we all danced the night away in Caveau de la Huchette, the jazz club I live above. We had gotten there early before opening to make sure we got a nice table overlooking the dance floor. The place was absolutely packed but nonetheless we were still able to have multiple dances on the dance floor. Armand and I were just trying our best because I'm an absolute lost cause when it comes to dancing. But I guess I got that from my mother, because so was she! It didn't matter though, because after several whiskey sours none of seemed to care if we were a lost cause! My dad even started belting out the lyrics to one of his favorite songs like no one was watching. I guess its true what they say, after a couple of whiskeys we were no longer sour!
The goodbyes were long and full of of course tears, but I'm sure I'll see them soon. Until then, I have some lovely memories to look back on. Love you guys so much and see you soon! xx
