After Covid-19 and confinement in Paris, I was very excited to take a weekend getaway for the first time since February! It was a lovely, relaxing weekend we had in the South of France and it turns out I am clearly a Southern girl whether it be in the States or in France.
So where do I start? The beaches were beautiful and the shopping was to die for. I arrived via the train from Paris (about 4 hours) in the afternoon and checked into our Airbnb. My advice for anyone who visits Cannes is to get accommodation that has air conditioning! Nothing is more satisfying than a long, hot day at the beach ending with AC. I personally loved our Airbnb, it was in the old part of the city right next to the beach, which leads me into my next point. The public beaches in Cannes are very crowded if you are in the hotel area, which is why I recommend if you are not staying in a hotel to go to the beaches West of the marina. They are very private and it seemed to only be locals, which made us feel a lot more comfortable leaving our bags to go swimming! Here is the Airbnb we stayed at linked: here

Cannes was such a wonderful weekend getaway after confinement because we didn't feel rushed to see everything. We relaxed on the beach, were able to walk the shops, and of course saw the famous red carpet for the Cannes Film Festival. The venue was closed because the festival was not going on, but it was still enjoyable to see the stars' concreted handprints outside!
My next recommendation is a restaurant, L'Assiette Provençale. The food in Cannes is extremely expensive as it a very posh city, so finding a nice restaurant that was by the water and also not expensive (hey I'm still on a student budget!) was very difficult. But L'Assiette Provençale to the rescue! The meal was around 25€ per person and included three courses. We found the food to be very delicious and satisfying so I would definitely recommend!

The rest of our weekend was quite typical of a weekend getaway, just enjoying each others company and the beautiful architecture the city has to offer. We swam, jumped off floating docks, and cooked all of our other meals. Cannes, you were lovely and I can't wait to do this again soon xx
